Eligibility

The Karnataka government has issues a detailed notification which defines eligibility:

Disadvantaged Groups

    • Scheduled Class*

    • Scheduled Tribe*

    • Backward Classes

    • Category I*

    • Category II A*

    • Category II B*

    • Category III A*

    • Category III B*

    • Orphan

    • Migrant and Street Children

    • Child with Special Needs

    • HIV infected/affected

*Various caste/tribes constituting categories, shall be prescribed by the Social Welfare Department from time to time

Weaker Section

    • Other castes and communities whose parent's/guardian's annual income is less than `3.5 lakhs (or the socially and educationally creamy layer as prescribed by the social welfare department)

Method

Out of the earmarked 25 percent of seats:

    • 7.5 % Scheduled Castes (S.C.)

    • 1.5 % Scheduled Tribes (S.T.)

The balance of 16% seats shall be provided to other categories of children belonging to disadvantaged group and children belonging to weaker sections living in the neighbourhood.

Tips for Parents

Entry Level: Admission is only for LKG and 1st Std only

Names of 5 Schools: Parents must carefully choose and give names of 5 schools in order of preference

Free Education: Students who get admission through this quota will get FREE education till their 10th std. They do not have to pay admission fee or tuition fee.

Original Documents: At the time of document verification, the parents must produce all original documents at the choice of school.

Online Applications: Selection of students is based on online applications and lottery.

Paper Applications: Filled in online forms must be submitted to all the schools selected in the online application.
